Tiger

Tiger is a firm favourite with everyone at the sanctuary. He is one of multiple cats that came to us from Cyprus several years ago via a rescue centre there, along with another of our great characters and sponsor cats, Olivia! In fact, they’re stories are very similar…

Tiger is a very outgoing and confident cat which meant he settled very quickly and loved the attention whenever we were in the room with him. Once he ventured out he found his way to the cattery, made himself at home and loved being the centre of attention! After some time, we saw one day that Tiger was walking with a slight limp. We monitored him for the next few days however, it wasn’t improving. When Dr. Ruth next visited, she took a look and thought something wasn’t right so she suggested he should have a scan. The scan showed, similar to other cats we’d taken from Cyprus, that he’d had a previous injury to one of his front legs which had been poorly treated. As a result, the scan showed he had a small amount of detached bone which was moving in his leg and causing inflammation. It was also apparent that the colder climate was affecting his joint, this was also the case with Olivia who also has a past injury.

Tiger began a course of medication to reduce the inflammation, accompanied with painkiller and it would be hoped that he could avoid further surgery. This treatment appeared to work and he became more agile again. Thankfully surgery wasn’t necessary and now we closely monitor Tiger, especially through the winter months but he’s back to the very demanding, attention seeking cat we know and love!
